ASIA SUMATRA (ANDALAS)


·         lies in both northern and southern hemisphere.

MEDAN, PEKANBARU

·         many of the oil fields are located in these two cities.

PALEMBANG

·         Major industries are oil refineries near oil fields, and fertilizer plant.

KALIMANTAN (INDONESIAN BORNEO)

·         Lies in both northern and southern hemisphere, and is separated from Celebes island by Makassar Strait.

SAMARINDA

·         Has an important oil and coal field.

BALIKPAPAN


·         Oil refining industry is the main industry of this city.

SINGAPORE

Area: 620 sq.km.


(Smallest country of south East Asia).

Capital: city of Singapore (city of lions).

Situation: the small island of Singapore, narrowly separated from the southern tip of the mountainous Malay Peninsula, lies at the eastern end of the Strait of Malacca. Its relatively central position among the islands and peninsula of south East Asia, developed the country not only into a major naval base but also into the region’s major entrepot.
